The global challenge
700 million people still live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than $2.15 a day. Every day, parents are faced with impossible choices between providing healthcare, food or housing. As a result, 14,500 children under five die daily from malaria, vitamin A deficiencies, and other preventable causes.
These are not unsolvable problems. In fact, simple, cost-effective interventions like vaccine access, nutritional supplements, and antimalarial bed nets have proven remarkably effective in saving lives. But while we may know what works, the far bigger challenge is directing sufficient resources to implement these solutions at scale.
